19世纪下半叶，由于欧洲工业革命的兴起，传统的手工艺制造商慢慢被大型机器加工厂挤垮。那时的机器比较粗糙，加工出的大批量产品虽然便宜但不够完美。热爱生活的人对过去精致优雅的手工制品深深留恋，担心传统技巧和创造力的流失。一些艺术家和知识分子开始寻找一种独特的风格。于是，在英国发起了一场工艺美术运动（Arts & Crafts Movement）。那次运动的代表人物是约翰.拉斯金（John Ruskin 1819-1900 英国作家、艺术家、艺术评论家)。他在《威尼斯之石The Stones of Venice》中试图将一个国家的道德和社会健康与它的建筑物和艺术的质量联系到一起。他认为一个健康的社会是应该尊重和强调人的技巧和创造力的。拉斯金的思想在当时具有广泛的影响力，甚至超出了艺术范畴。 | | 详细... |

| Alec Von Bargen | It doesn’t take a trained eye to see what turmoil our world is going through at the moment. It does not take a college degree to become aware and create a voice to oppose the injustices and to stand up for those less fortunate. It doesn’t take any particular courage to hide behind masks while pointing a finger in blame. It does on the other hand take a unique type of person to translate all of these issues and convert them into a dialogue coherent enough to transcend mundane dialogue. It takes an acute perception of that which surrounds us in order to build up inspiration leading to form. It takes extreme courage to put down those masks and stand naked for all to judge. But, above all, It takes a willing and esurient audience to turn what could be a simple presentation into a meaningful colloquy; a sermon into the most creatively ambitious debate.

| Lars Bjerre | | Lars Bjerre's pictures provide a platform for fragility, madness, loneliness, and brutality. They confront the viewer with humans who are in search of their identity. Bjerre s works reflect the complex and paradox world. In partly distressing, but also ironical pictures, they show the fragile individual confronted with himself. The detailed pictures make the viewer allegorically face a truth, that one would like to escape from, even though it concerns everybody. His observation always focuses the psyche of the human being: the search of identity, the fear of lost time, the integration in a society, the toughness of isolation, the insanity of everyday life. When one looks at Bjerre's works, it is hard not to be touched. They require all attention. His art emblematizes the tension, which is caused through political impacts and society forces, as Bjerre reflects it in a creative way. | | 详细... |

| 智壽子 Chizuco Sophia Yw | | In my paintings and drawings, I create a new space. I make an airy watery world using colors. I use a variety of media: Chinese color, watercolor, acrylic, glass pen and brush, charcoal, colored pencil and oil on paper or canvas. The color I painted was my memory. My memories were translated into the color on a white canvas. The color is able to make an atmosphere and depth in the paintings. I grew up in countryside of Japan. There is surrounded by mountains and Pacific Ocean. As a child, I loved to stay outside for enjoying the nature. I was interested in the color of sky, ocean and mountains. Continuing to explore and ideology and interest in the human spirit, condition and the journey we call 'life', Alec Von Bargen’s work attempt to parlay that journey into images. The photos taken here in China are concentrated on buildings, overcrowded spaces and the lack of intimacy; invasion, voyeurism and the obsession of the east with the west and vice-versa; duality, suffocation and the place we each occupy as human beings. China is a country of contrasts: The old with the new, the sparsely with the opulence, the 'in-your-face' with the hush-hush of a society still repressed by a silent and veiled regime.
